Really good.  I can hear it being read aloud.  There are beats.  There remain great things in the previous version, having just read it.  Personally, I prefer the closing lines in your original version to this one.  Ending with liberty.

Enjoyable.  Took me back to my own childhood of ninjas in the killing fields.  I had my own group of ninjas which I led during the 1980's in the Northeast of Ireland.  They called me Fagin.
