Hello! I am an old crone who very much enjoys reading SF, urban fantasy and horror. I write all sorts, some of it SF, urban fantasy and horror, a lot of it not. Sometimes I can even be funny, so I'm told. My short stories have appeared in the anthologies 'Cold Iron: Ghost Stories from the 21st Century' (Iron Press) and 'Science Fiction For Survival: An Archive For Mars' (Valley Press), as well as in magazines ranging from the literary magazine 'Dreamcatcher' to 'Writing Magazine' and 'The People's Friend' (the latter definitely not SF, urban fantasy or horror). I do regular local spoken word events, and needless to say there is a novel on the go. My new website is currently under construction, and you are cordially invited to come and have a peep at the blogs and free stories there. You can even go mad and sign up for my newsletter! Plus the usual social media stuff. All details below. Thanks for dropping in! (Oh, the picture is of my highly critical personal editor.)

I came late to this so I don't know if the last line in question is the existing last line or a previous last line?  Just checking, before I place my bid.

An entire novel caught in this poem.  You brilliantly portray the tension that comes from waiting, those moments when all you can do is nothing.

Past and present whispering to each other.  Really evocative and the rhythm conveys the journey.  Very much enjoyed reading this.

Posted on Wed, 11 Jul 2018

Manages to be both sad and optimistic, and to convey the vulnerability and strength of the narrator.  There's a whole novel's worth of story in this.  I bet there's lots of similar tales in that repressive little community.

The bewilderment and pain of those involved in this are so awful to think about.  It affects whole communities - Di, I can't imagine how you even start to process it.  As a society we always struggle with how to treat children or young adults who...

Absolutely lovely.  My dad

Posted on Tue, 03 Jul 2018

Absolutely lovely.  My dad had a load of 78rpm vinyl - I could hear every one of them even though I couldn't play them.  Eventually I was able to let go of them.  The image of the coat is particularly poignant.

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your cat.  I'm a cat lover myself and it's so hard when you have to say goodbye.

I love these slices of life, they're always so vivid. The sounds and scents come alive and we can see a colour drenched scene as if we're there.
