Hello! I am an old crone who very much enjoys reading SF, urban fantasy and horror. I write all sorts, some of it SF, urban fantasy and horror, a lot of it not. Sometimes I can even be funny, so I'm told. My short stories have appeared in the anthologies 'Cold Iron: Ghost Stories from the 21st Century' (Iron Press) and 'Science Fiction For Survival: An Archive For Mars' (Valley Press), as well as in magazines ranging from the literary magazine 'Dreamcatcher' to 'Writing Magazine' and 'The People's Friend' (the latter definitely not SF, urban fantasy or horror). I do regular local spoken word events, and needless to say there is a novel on the go. My new website is currently under construction, and you are cordially invited to come and have a peep at the blogs and free stories there. You can even go mad and sign up for my newsletter! Plus the usual social media stuff. All details below. Thanks for dropping in! (Oh, the picture is of my highly critical personal editor.)

Lovely vignette, and a thoughtful take on the IP. There are some very telling descriptions - your opening line really evokes the abundance of flowers in the shop window. You also capture both Dottie's loneliness and her strengh of character. ...

Both parts of this beautifully written. The tension for the reader, around whether the 'something hard' is physical or psychological, is excellently maintained. You have captured the awkwardness and ambivalence that people feel towards both the...

I'm so glad you found someone who would listen to your story and believe you. You show so well how many abused children feel they must have been 'complicit' in the abuse because of their physical reactions to it. It can take them a long time,...

Such a sad and courageous story - what a brave little girl and now a very brave woman. However hard it is, please do keep going with telling your story. You're in charge of this story now, not that horrible man.

And don't forget that there's mini plastic, or whatever it's called, in bottled water. It's probably in tap water too, but at least you're not paying extra for it.
Very good piece, Ed.

Really interesting question. There's a lot of research going on at the moment, particularly into a compound of cannabis, cannabidiol. Some researchers say it can reduce or lessen the severity of seizures, particularly where other drugs have not...
