Hello! I am an old crone who very much enjoys reading SF, urban fantasy and horror. I write all sorts, some of it SF, urban fantasy and horror, a lot of it not. Sometimes I can even be funny, so I'm told. My short stories have appeared in the anthologies 'Cold Iron: Ghost Stories from the 21st Century' (Iron Press) and 'Science Fiction For Survival: An Archive For Mars' (Valley Press), as well as in magazines ranging from the literary magazine 'Dreamcatcher' to 'Writing Magazine' and 'The People's Friend' (the latter definitely not SF, urban fantasy or horror). I do regular local spoken word events, and needless to say there is a novel on the go. My new website is currently under construction, and you are cordially invited to come and have a peep at the blogs and free stories there. You can even go mad and sign up for my newsletter! Plus the usual social media stuff. All details below. Thanks for dropping in! (Oh, the picture is of my highly critical personal editor.)

Time does heal the wounds, but we still miss those we loved.  I'm sure your mother would be proud to know you are still thinking of her.

Posted on Sat, 17 Feb 2018

You and me both, Elsie.  We are of that same generation.  I was a Rape Crisis counsellor twenty odd years ago, and an 'activist' for some years before that, and I get sick of the 'great and the good' saying now that 'no-one knew' about systematic...

An intriguing story.  Are you planning to develop it further?  I would very much like to know the outcome of this encounter!

Lovely to have you posting

Lovely to have you posting again, Alan!  This was really interesting.  Some great physical observation and then those astute observations about the anonymity of hotels, the possibilities of unknown rooms and the stories they might hold.  A rich...

Those anniversaries always lodge in our hearts.  I have a similar one myself coming up in a couple of weeks.  It sounds as though you are at peace with your lovely memories, however hard it has been.

A thoughtful story, with some really nice touches.  There's a build up of tension, especially when she finds the front door open, and the reader knows then that there is something not quite right.  The idea of the ghost child being lost is very...

Posted on Sun, 21 Jan 2018

I'm not vegan, or even vegetarian, but I've never understood people who say others shouldn't be vegan because it's not 'natural'.  It's not 'natural' for human animals to have flush toilets or central heating, but no-one seems to have a problem...
