Trying to pick out, as one
Posted on Sun, 25 Oct 2015
Trying to pick out, as one does, the 'I particularly liked...' bit, and I can't, because each paragraph is so rich and multi-layered. Just blown away by the way you use words to envoke feelings, sensations, physical textures and so many vivid...

It's the same anmesia you get
Posted on Tue, 15 Sep 2015
It's the same anmesia you get with childbirth. It hurts like hell at the time, but somehow, a little while later, it all seems like a terribly good idea again...
Enjoyed and empathised with this!

I've read this several times
Posted on Mon, 14 Sep 2015
I've read this several times and appreciated it more each time. In its dissection of the way people are brutalised in war it held echoes, for me, of the WW1 war poets. Disturbing look at the questions of how and why people can do such things to...

I enjoyed this. Very visceral, and the physical descriptions are particularly good. Anna's character is also well drawn at the beginning. I wasn't quite sure about the final paragraph. I...

The structure really does
Posted on Wed, 26 Aug 2015
The structure really does work with the content. The poem grabs you and won't let go. The sadness, the disappointment, the despair, all conveyed with precision but no loss of emotion. I am glad to hear you found it therapeutic to write. It...

Very interesting ideas - when gods do not want to be gods. Another thing I like is that I still cannot see how it is going to turn out, which is really good and keeping me hooked. One small typo - I assume you meant 'veracity' rather than '...

This is very good. I love
Posted on Thu, 25 Jun 2015
This is very good. I love horror stories but they're so difficult to get right. This one works because of the tropes Stephen has already mentioned, drawing you in, initially making you smile and relax a bit, then adding to the insistence and...
