I write all sorts, some of it SF, urban fantasy and horror, a lot of it not. Sometimes I can even be funny, so I'm told. My short stories have appeared in the anthologies 'Cold Iron: Ghost Stories from the 21st Century' (Iron Press) and 'Science Fiction For Survival: An Archive For Mars' (Valley Press), as well as in magazines ranging from the literary magazine 'Dreamcatcher' to 'Writing Magazine' and 'The People's Friend' (the latter definitely not SF, urban fantasy or horror). I do regular local spoken word events, and needless to say there is a novel on the go. Do come and have a peep at the blogs, stories and audio at https://www.janeayrie.com - you can even go mad and sign up for my newsletter! Plus the usual social media stuff. All details below. Thanks for dropping in! (Oh, the picture is of my highly critical personal editor.)

Shadow (Part 1 of 3)

Mr Gray seeks an intelligent lady. But is that what he's cut out for? Supposed to be for last week's 'Storm' Inspiration Point, but ran out of time. Picture: Pixabay Creative Commons

A wonderful tale, Turlough, and, like others, I'm grateful for the reminder of Julie Felix. I'd forgotten how good her voice was! We always watched her TV show way back when. I may well be doing my own bit of noodling around Spotify over the next...

Very much enjoyed this, Rhiannon. I'm so glad the poor violin was retrieved! You've managed to bring real personality and humour to quite a stressful situation.

Marvellous! It is very difficult to place humorous pieces these days. I once had a piece rejected because it was 'too funny'. Which is better than the other way, I suppose.

Have you thought of self-publishing a collection of your stuff? I'...

That'll teach him to get her name wrong. Not that he'll be able to do much with the lesson. Splendid!
