Hello! I am an old crone who very much enjoys reading SF, urban fantasy and horror. I write all sorts, some of it SF, urban fantasy and horror, a lot of it not. Sometimes I can even be funny, so I'm told. My short stories have appeared in the anthologies 'Cold Iron: Ghost Stories from the 21st Century' (Iron Press) and 'Science Fiction For Survival: An Archive For Mars' (Valley Press), as well as in magazines ranging from the literary magazine 'Dreamcatcher' to 'Writing Magazine' and 'The People's Friend' (the latter definitely not SF, urban fantasy or horror). I do regular local spoken word events, and needless to say there is a novel on the go. My new website is currently under construction, and you are cordially invited to come and have a peep at the blogs and free stories there. You can even go mad and sign up for my newsletter! Plus the usual social media stuff. All details below. Thanks for dropping in! (Oh, the picture is of my highly critical personal editor.)

Ingenious! Now you've got me thinking how great it would have been if these two had actually met. Lovely IP response.

I shall never look at that

Posted on Fri, 17 Jan 2025

I shall never look at that gentleman and his ghost walkers in the same way again! Thoroughly enjoyed this, Paul. It's lovely to see the city celebrated properly, unlike the (in my opinion, apologies if it's your kind of thing) dreadful new TV...

I am so very sorry, Penny. It

I am so very sorry, Penny. It's a savage loss. Your mutual love leaps out from this poem, and it's good that you have your sons to share grief and support. I hope that writing helps. In an earlier comment you mentioned 'pockets of struggle', and...

We have a copyright expert??

Strictly speaking, no lyrics at all, only titles can be quoted. But three words is unlikely to get us thrown in jail.

The kittens are doing nicely, thank you.

Great poem, by the way.

Brilliant as always! A bit of joy in gloomy January. Thanks to you and Di, my next visit to the dentist may involve mental images far removed from the calming beach scene she has on the ceiling. Although I spent my first few visits convinced that...

Great cliffhanger, and I

Posted on Tue, 17 Dec 2024

Great cliffhanger, and I really have fellow feeling with Vanessa. If ever I have to do anything to my laptop, I live in fear that it will suddenly wake up and ask me what I think I'm doing. Also, I really want to know what happened in Hunstanton...

This is beautiful, with so much lovely detail. As well as the sights and sounds, you capture the characters so well. I am so looking forward to the continuing story.

Never mind last rites - when

Posted on Mon, 02 Dec 2024

Never mind last rites - when I go I want last highlights with full conditioner and head massage. I'm assuming I'm going downstairs, and I don't think they're much with the personal grooming. Get it while you can.

Great poem. Thanks for the...
