Hello! I am an old crone who very much enjoys reading SF, urban fantasy and horror. I write all sorts, some of it SF, urban fantasy and horror, a lot of it not. Sometimes I can even be funny, so I'm told. My short stories have appeared in the anthologies 'Cold Iron: Ghost Stories from the 21st Century' (Iron Press) and 'Science Fiction For Survival: An Archive For Mars' (Valley Press), as well as in magazines ranging from the literary magazine 'Dreamcatcher' to 'Writing Magazine' and 'The People's Friend' (the latter definitely not SF, urban fantasy or horror). I do regular local spoken word events, and needless to say there is a novel on the go. My new website is currently under construction, and you are cordially invited to come and have a peep at the blogs and free stories there. You can even go mad and sign up for my newsletter! Plus the usual social media stuff. All details below. Thanks for dropping in! (Oh, the picture is of my highly critical personal editor.)

The Net Caster (Part Six)

I saw them then, the gold uniformed officers, marshalling the crowd, herding it down the boulevard towards me.

The Net Caster (Part Five)

Under Cytherea's two suns, the talking taxi was taking me to a destination I knew nothing of.
Cherry

The Net Caster (Part Four)

Was Hamish Mansoorian alive or dead? And who had purchased his soul?

The Net Caster (Part Three)

Hamish Mansoorian had out- manoeuvred me and everyone else far more times than I could recall. But this...

The Net Caster (Part Two)

Every single biological thing in the Universe leaves a trace.

Ah, you stand no chance against a story that's made its mind up where it's going!

Lovely response to the IP, Rhiannon. Brought a happy smile to this reader.

It is interesting to see how relevant your piece is now, a year after it was written.

It saddens me that Brits are no longer taught about our history of dissent. The Peasants' Revolt, the Chartists, the Tolpuddle Martyrs and, of course,...

You can't beat a bit of Hawkwind to cheer up the soul. And it sounds as though you definitely needed a bit of soul cheering.

You see, that's what I like, a bit of education with my highly enjoyable reading. I never knew wasps and figs...

At last, something that makes sense of the whole damn fiasco! Thank you, Paul.

Each day I think we must have reached the summit of plonkerdom, and each day a new peak appears.

I have to disagree with celtic - after the Biden-Trump...

Yes, we are, we are indeed.

Posted on Fri, 21 Jun 2024

Yes, we are, we are indeed. And the worst of us are almost certain to make that leap into the unknown, and all I hope is that when they get wherever they're going they meet the same fate as the human space travellers in 'Don't Look Up'. (If you...

I think we can all sympathise

I think we can all sympathise with Alfred's question. Justice and respect seem fairly basic things to desire - as you say, who would think they could be so difficult!

Thank you for posting this, Di, definitely one from the heart. It is so sad when young people feel a vote is worthless and they have no investment in democracy. It is very true that many people feel the climate crisis is something vague in the...
