Hello! I am an old crone who very much enjoys reading SF, urban fantasy and horror. I write all sorts, some of it SF, urban fantasy and horror, a lot of it not. Sometimes I can even be funny, so I'm told. My short stories have appeared in the anthologies 'Cold Iron: Ghost Stories from the 21st Century' (Iron Press) and 'Science Fiction For Survival: An Archive For Mars' (Valley Press), as well as in magazines ranging from the literary magazine 'Dreamcatcher' to 'Writing Magazine' and 'The People's Friend' (the latter definitely not SF, urban fantasy or horror). I do regular local spoken word events, and needless to say there is a novel on the go. My new website is currently under construction, and you are cordially invited to come and have a peep at the blogs and free stories there. You can even go mad and sign up for my newsletter! Plus the usual social media stuff. All details below. Thanks for dropping in! (Oh, the picture is of my highly critical personal editor.)

There's that quote about someone's friends being the best measure of their worth and it sounds as though Mac was proof of that. The memories will survive the sadness.

Mine is "You know, Mary What's-her-face, married Bill What's-his-name's brother..." "Ah yes," says my similarly memory challenged interlocuter, with a knowing smile. Although 'London Bridge' has more style!
I do hope most of the people I...

This story is so great, and after this I shall never approach changing my printer cartridges in quite the same frame of mind. Such a funny and unsettling tale. Lovely writing.

Enjoyed this very much. Although I am rather with insert on the microwave question. Ditto the actual oven.

Enthralling in the purest sense - I was absolutely in its thrall from the first line. I love the idea of being a woman of the mist, and there is indeed a fear of grey-haired women. I didn't know about the Long Compton witches, so the poem sent me...

Wonderfully entertaining, and informative! Whatever my quibbles with English, I am forever grateful we don't have the masculine/feminine shenanigans, even if most of our grammar and spelling make no sense whatsoever. Accents are always...
