My stories

Gold cherry

Grumpy Old Man

I read this at the recent York and London events. I think I managed to upset just about everyone in one way or another. Ho Hum. All of this is true.
Gold cherry

Comedy Socks

This is the story I read at the recent York and London evenings.
Gold cherry

Clouds and Princess Diana (IP)

Some of this is true - but most of it isn't.
Gold cherry

Simon The Frenzied Banana (IP)

OK, I think I've gone a little potty here but this came to me whilst mowing the lawn...

I'm sure that's right - we worry and fret over things. We sweat over our self esteem - and it's because we dare to put it our there and have others judge us. If only a few more generals and politicians had such fears!

Don't understand

Posted on Mon, 15 Feb 2016

I don't really understand the confusion over this one. I think it's pretty plain as day as far as poetry goes. Maybe you are all trying to see more into it than is there. If you take it at face value it all makes pretty decent sense to me - and...

Wow!

It's not often that a 'traditional' poem actually keeps to rhyme and metre - but this does and I am impressed. There are some wonderful lines in there too - 'meadowlands of braided strands in winds and waves that wove her' , for example. This...

For those who don't know Laurie's first book, Ex, is available now from...

I Like It

Cleverly done - the haiku form is not easy - and the last one is thought provoking. I'm not sure that wind follows you - surely it's in your face if it's blowing off your hat!

Internet Influence

Posted on Tue, 11 Mar 2014

This really is very good. It demonstrates the appalling influence the internet has had on young sexuality. I guess schools and parents are doing their bit to explain to young teenagers that sex shouldn't be porn but I worry about it all....

I thought this was excellent.

I like this very much indeed.

I like this very much indeed. It makes me think of old mother who's present day memories fade almost as soon as they happen - but she can still remember so much of her past. It's a beautiful and evocative piece.
