Pick of the Day and Poem of the Week

Posted on Thu, 08 Dec 2016

To write a nonsense poem is not as easy as it might seem. First of all it must flow beautifully - and this does - then it must have really wonderful new words - and this does - and finally it must have some sense in it, and this certainly does....

Pick of the Day

Whilst we all know the horror of the teenage girl and the cruelty dished out this is still a good story, well told. The characterisation is excellent and the flow is spot on.

The raw and visceral nature of this poem will move any reader. You do so well to capture it. A no brainer for Pick of the Day.

I like this very much - the passion in it is almost touchable. But I do agree with jolono - it needs a bit of work. Go though it sentence by sentence and ask yourself - is this necessary and does it follow on from the sentence before? Hone it...

Can't be bad! And it isn't. I read and re-read this before getting to the bottom of every careful word. Definitely a poet writing prose - and doesn't it work well?

Story of the Week

I think this is excellent. It seems to veer off course when we get to the beer tasting event but it all ties up very well at the end. There's a lot of show and not tell here - I bet you all have a picture of that hat in your mind but it's never...

I like it.

This is very good - it takes a slightly flippant approach to what we all know is one of those key moments in life. I particularly like the extra half hour to look at the fish. It puts us all in the writer's head and that's a great skill. Good...
