Story and Poem and Inspiration Point of the week.

We were spoilt for choice this week with some wonderful poetry and prose. But the picks go to Chant for "Strangers" and MyPunkGang for "The Elephants Head,Camden". "Strangers" is contemplative of modern life yet with moody urban undertones. "The Elephants Head, Camden" looks at the sad decline in a relationship set against the backdrop of a house re-decoration! http://www.abctales.com/story/chant/strangers http://www.abctales.com/story/...

Mayweather v Pacquiao ( Part 4. Almost There.)

Almost There. In just over twelve hours’ time, we’ll know who’s the world’s best boxer at welterweight and more importantly who’s the best pound for pound boxer alive today. It’s being billed at Good Guy v Bad Guy. Floyd Money Mayweather the multi-million dollar, cocky, arrogant, bully boy American against little Manny Pacquiao the quiet well- mannered Filipino. Not quite the truth. That’s what the promoters want us to believe because it all...

Mayweather v Pacquiao ( Part 3. The Deal)

THE DEAL. The contracts were signed just two days ago (23rd April) which meant that tickets could finally go on sale. The venue (MGM Grand) holds just under 17000. Yet only 1000 tickets went on sale to the public. They sold out in minutes. Priced between $1500 and $10,000. The other 16000 tickets were allocated to VIP’s, Relatives of the fighters, Sponsors, Sports Teams and associations. It would seem that Mayweather got what he wanted as far as...

Mayweather v Pacquiao ( Part 2. History)

HISTORY. It’s the fight that should have happened 5 years ago. Some would say when both men were at their peak. In 2009, the American Sports Channel ESPN, announced that contracts had been signed and the fight would take place on March 13, 2010. They’d jumped the gun. Contracts had been sent from one camp to another but not signed. Things had to be sorted. These two fighters each believed that they were the best on the planet. They were both...

Mayweather v Pacquiao ( Part 1. Introductions)

INTRODUCTIONS He’s a 38 year old black American. His mother was a drug addict. His father was a good welterweight who once fought Sugar Ray Leonard, but also a drug dealer who spent 5 years in prison. Last year he earnt in excess of $100m and was the highest paid athlete on the planet. He has an ego the size of Europe. He’s been arrested for beating up his girlfriend and knocking a bouncer senseless, yet he’s appeared on the USA equivalent of...

Simon Bolivar.

My sons girlfriend is from Venezuela. She's over here for a few months and the other night we all went out for a few drinks. Her English is pretty good ( far better than my Spanish) and knowing that I'm a Londoner she asked me were she could see the statue of Simon Bolivar. My reaction was quite simple. "Who?" She repeated the name thinking that I hadn't heard her. I'd heard alright, just didn't have a bloody clue who he was. My face must have...

The East End Butcher Boy

When i published my book last year i was in such a rush that i didn 't edit it properly Now I have and added another 3000 words. If you bought the original let me know and I'll send you a copy of the latest edition. I'm not trying to push the book just trying to be fair to all who supported me here on Abc....

Tour De France

We have major road closures in and around East London tomorrow due to the "Tour De France", making it impossible for me to do any meat deliveries in Central London. This means that I'll lose money tomorrow. I'm just wondering if the good hard working people of Paris will have the same problem when we have "The London Marathon?" I don't think so... I

The Butcher

People often ask me what its like to be a butcher. Words can't describe it. But this small youtube video captures it brilliantly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rd9UDKCU47M Its hilarious. Sorry about the language!

Froch v Groves 2 ( The Fight)

So, it happened! I had it spot on. I said it wouldn't go the distance, I said it would end before the ninth round, I said there would be a knockout in rounds 6 -9. So all good there then. However, I picked the wrong fighter! The undercard lived up to all its hype. All the british guys fought and won well. At 22.00 the main event started. Groves came in to a fan fare of a tune I'd never heard before. But it was pumping and so was the stadium...
