I write all sorts, some of it SF, urban fantasy and horror, a lot of it not. Sometimes I can even be funny, so I'm told. My short stories have appeared in the anthologies 'Cold Iron: Ghost Stories from the 21st Century' (Iron Press) and 'Science Fiction For Survival: An Archive For Mars' (Valley Press), as well as in magazines ranging from the literary magazine 'Dreamcatcher' to 'Writing Magazine' and 'The People's Friend' (the latter definitely not SF, urban fantasy or horror). I do regular local spoken word events, and needless to say there is a novel on the go. Do come and have a peep at the blogs, stories and audio at https://www.janeayrie.com - you can even go mad and sign up for my newsletter! Plus the usual social media stuff. All details below. Thanks for dropping in! (Oh, the picture is of my highly critical personal editor.)

Absolutely great, Jane. And it's probably only a matter of time before this actually happens!
I remember the crop circle episode.
There I go, revealing too much online again.
Please don't tell Ben.

I always look forward to these, Penny. I love the way you blend the everyday, life as we all know it, with the very un-ordinary. Anticipating the next one!

Posted on Fri, 31 Dec 2021
I had the Shirelle's 'Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow' running through my head during Christmas. No idea why, unless it was my brain mounting a desperate defence against the seasonal onslaught.
If I find myself singing 'Uptown Girl' to the...

Such a lovely image of the river, Jenny. Sums it all up so beautifully.
I was thinking about 'old' New Years a couple of days ago - I do feel sorry for all the youngsters that are missing out on the chance to make those memories, because...

I did like the immediacy of this - the sudden arrival of the storm and then the quiet again. And the 'mistletoe orbs' is such an evocative phrase. You took me right there.
Happy New Year, Rhiannon.

A delicious story, and it was so nice that Baxter had the generosity of spirit to save his step-brother from a nasty injury.
Near the beginning you have a reference to 'service metals' and I wondered if this was a typo for medals?...
