Hello! I am an old crone who very much enjoys reading SF, urban fantasy and horror. I write all sorts, some of it SF, urban fantasy and horror, a lot of it not. Sometimes I can even be funny, so I'm told. My short stories have appeared in the anthologies 'Cold Iron: Ghost Stories from the 21st Century' (Iron Press) and 'Science Fiction For Survival: An Archive For Mars' (Valley Press), as well as in magazines ranging from the literary magazine 'Dreamcatcher' to 'Writing Magazine' and 'The People's Friend' (the latter definitely not SF, urban fantasy or horror). I do regular local spoken word events, and needless to say there is a novel on the go. My new website is currently under construction, and you are cordially invited to come and have a peep at the blogs and free stories there. You can even go mad and sign up for my newsletter! Plus the usual social media stuff. All details below. Thanks for dropping in! (Oh, the picture is of my highly critical personal editor.)

Very intriguing - I had a very vivid picture of the proceedings, and there is real sense of foreboding at the end. Enjoyed reading it.

In the first line - broom stails? Should this be brooms' tails, or what is a broom stail?

This is beautiful, Jenny. Your poetry just gets better and better. I particularly loved the line 'I could dream all day growing a sense of who I am'. Really inspiring.

This is lovely, and that last line is particularly wonderful. A great blend of vulnerability, wry humour, love and gentle acceptance. I felt better for reading this.

That last verse is particularly wonderful, Jenny, but the rest of it does such a brilliant job of conveying the sight and feel of the landscape, and its timelessness. It's so fascinating to think about whose footsteps we might be walking in....

I would have paid a good number of English pounds to see Jake do 'Copacabana'. Lovely audio, by the way. Delighted to hear your woofles is named after the Kinks song. Treasured memories of being unadvisably in the front row of one of their gigs...

Posted on Fri, 02 Jul 2021

Absorbing history, Jean. I had no idea of the origin of 'pidgin' English. When I was reading the first part particularly I was thinking 'Somerset Maugham territory', with his tales of people on boats in the Far East. I don't think he's read much...
