I LOVE this poem,Jenny. How far you travel - from beside a cobweb, like a symbol of stillness and fragility, to a distant hill where "copse of strong trees stand" ( I love that you put strong in there, too) All brought about by you listening to...
"She smiles (thinly) spins and twirls," seems sad? Is it because she is trapped doing the same dance over and over, like a doorkeeper into magic, so though she seems fragile is powerful. But longs to have wings be in the place she guards?
If so much in a conciousness is inherent instinct, there must be connection with those sharing that instinct in the present, I like how you say "a surge of the energy of one" and maybe too with those who passed the instinct down. In such brief...

I liked "clouds squeezed to a pulp" too, made me think of them being like fruit making juicy rain :0)
Also "lightening strikes like a knife" is wonderful, both for the quick jabbing sounds and the imagery
