Very strong piece. Serenity

Very strong piece. Serenity of the tree seems chosen for its calm and then you contrast it with that abrupt, unnatural paring down. My mum's motto, amongst many others, is 'Not all willows will weep.'

This is gorgeous. So personal and yet so accessible because of the rustic farm imagery, a man that reflects the cycles of the seasons. This man's a dream.

Put me in mind of Angela Carter's character 'Fevvers.' The make up medium is really effective for transporting your reader through cancer treatment in an accessible, theatrical way.

You could make an exhibition of these, Philip. Your Iceland set is outstanding. Have you considered submitting to Mslexia Pamphlet Comp this year? If you collate them, polish them up, you'd make the summer submission date. Just a thought.

This captures lots of strands of being a woman yet it's subtle. Some people despair when I dare to bring gender in to it but there's a sense of two identities here, inner and outer, garden and town, chemical and earth.
