I walked through the maze of streets and alleyways, trying to remember how to reach the town square. Seagulls circled above me, swooping low over my head and crying out like I was a scrap of food to be snaffled in their beaks.
Paul pawed at me and whimpered. I guessed he wanted a walk and was hungry. I fed him the custard creams left by housekeeping on the tray on the table with the teas and coffees.

This is so well put. The way the world, or various versions of it, flood in through our phones or whatever devices we use can't be right. The speed of it all too. Quiet spaces feel more important than ever. Thanks for posting.
"I was too drunk and fresh from seething to realise how horrendous this sounded. It was a smear on the lad’s name. A boy just. Only twenty. I’d apologise in the morning. To the Lord above."
Really enjoyed this, Sean. Need to catch up with the other chapters but I liked the eccentricities and idiosyncrancies of the characters and the town. The horror of no bog roll was also well done.
Enjoyed this, Jane. Was chatting about Brum to my partner the other day. I used to have to go there quite a bit for work and never felt a love for the place, but she thinks it's great. Interesting to read your take on it.
Totally agree. Think you should definitely submit your stuff Jane if you haven't already. It's fabulous and deserves to be enjoyed by a wider audience. You're a brilliant writer.
