There are so many rich details in this poem. Zooming in on another world, you've expressed this amphibious enclave so artfully. Very much enjoyed and well deserved POTD...
You've brought their amazing life cycle to life with this poem, Rhiannon. I remember looking at a local history book and it stated that a nearby pond used to be 'thick with eels' since there are connecting underwater streams from the Thames....
It doesn't take long for nature to start taking over. The van reminds me of all those ship wrecks and other debris beneath our oceans, covered in weed and tiny marine creatures. Those discarded country plough always look so beautiful.
Thank you for the cherries. I actually enjoy these proverbs, some of them are very amusing, especially when people say them wrong. My inspiration for this was my dad who always used to say, 'what's good for the goose is good for the saucy gander...
I love the first line and from there all the fine details unfold, sparkling nature, reality and clever metaphors. Tiny hearts in feathers is all the promise of spring in a sentence. Very well done and one to return to.
Some interesting details in this. The mix of sadness and science fiction reminds me of some episodes of Dr Who, strangly I was getting Dr Who vibes in part one and in part two you actually mentioned it...
