Pacific Golden Plover

Golden Plover flies across the ocean – cannot swim, and so in constant motion, eighty-eight hours with no land to rest; somehow knows just how much...

What is a ‘saint’?

[Continuing the hymn-for-Sundays series] True saints are all who know they’ve messed their lives, faced up to things, confesssed to God their total...

The Mountain Code!

This was insipired by memories of my father’s lusty singing of the humourous 'National Anthem of the Ancient Britons' or the 'Woad Ode' (to tune of Men of Harlech) I didn’t know it by that title but just by some of the words and tune (see links) I used to enjoy the fun, rhythm and fun rhymes. I liked the photo, Jenny. Is it yours? The light gleaming on the moss adds to the loveliness of those moss-enveloped secret and undisturbed places. It reminded me of walks in such places with soft swathers of beautirul mosses, and those old...

Posted on Fri, 08 Oct 2021

Glimpses we have of people

Posted on Wed, 06 Oct 2021

Glimpses we have of people and situations in the past can be quite tantalizing in feeling we know only the surface of events and would love to be able to time-travel to see more, and ask questions and try to understand the why of people's...

'Ships passing in the night'

'Ships passing in the night' … I read this before, and like Jean, was taken with the description of the setting, but thought to have another look when some had commented!

How little we do see through the windows of the eyes in those...

Lovely you had those

Posted on Mon, 04 Oct 2021

Lovely you had those experiences, Richard, to remember and be able to recall and describe in such detail to delight others. And, still the calls of friendship to give though you can't move far now. Rhiannon

It all seems to be very

Posted on Wed, 29 Sep 2021

It all seems to be very confused!

An era when some travelled a lot, but most didn't travel at all?

The children do seem to have been looked after with care and love, and had experienced real love from their parents at the early age...
