Counting
Picture source is Wikipedia Commons artist is Rosa Bonheur painting is The Highland Shepherd. Image is Public Domain. Shepherds all over Britain used to count in this way which is believed to have come from a Brythonic Celtic language. Welsh counting is very similar even today. This poem uses the Scottish version.
