little golden fishes that the guiris drop in la fuente on the way to the clubs and bars from the fairground float side up in the fountain

The Vagabond Heirs of Francisco Franco

They sit in every cafe-bar named after the street on whose corner it squats. Smoking, small-eyed, wall-eyed moustachioed muchachos remembering kisses...

Should have spent more with them. That's advice I'd give my younger self.

Tales of the Unconnected

Posted on Mon, 10 Feb 2025

This second part of The Speedy is today's Pick of the Day. There are several names for this kind of tale, one of them is chain. But that's not important. This is a clever conceit and beautifully executed, PLEASE share on your social media...

Chilling, with a wry vein of humour running through it. Terrific writing, indeed.

Worth reading for Roof Madoc alone ...

I met her once, as she was big buddies with a friend of mine who lived in the same - English - village around 30 years ago. Lovely woman, filthy sense of humour and no airs or graces whatever. Anyway, enjoyable as always.

This episode of a novel(la) maintains the intrigue, mystery and high standard of previous ones - and that's why it's our Pick of the Day.

Do please share on social media if you can.
