The perils of living on an island, especially Neville's. This brilliantly written and deeply wry story is our Pick of the Day. Do share on Facebook and Twitter.

Ah well, you conjure it up very well. (And not to labour my point like a pedant...I should have explained myself better, I wondered if it should be gazed at, or gazed upon, rather than just gazed - but, as I said, could just be me!)
Lovely. Love whispering smoke and the idea of life being translucent. You painted the picture so well to take us on a little excursion from everything. :)
Oh, good! In the sense that I am not alone! The thing is, too, that I felt just as weird not saying anything as the idea of mentioning it seemed. The Bear is often appallingly behaved when I am on the phone or Zoom - howling loudly and lengthily...
The juxtaposition of an ending with beginning and renewal, dark and light, makes this a real pleasure to read. This return to colour is our Pick of the Day. Please do share on Facebook and Twitter.

Lovely, Paul. Really evocative. (BTW - is 'gazed an ivory tomb' - could just be me.)
