Hi, I’m Jessica — still in my 20s, learning to balance writerhood and motherhood, one chaotic day at a time. I’ve been writing since I was 12, at most, and joined this site when I was about 15.
Speculative fiction is my first love (think sci-fi, fantasy, and anything a little strange), but I also dabble in the dark and twisty. Poetry, as well, and sometimes something harder to define.
I’m in Canada, but my roots stretch back to the UK through my mum, who was born and raised there. Happy to be part of this community.

This really resonated with me. I’m absolutely obsessed with Pinterest too — scrolling through the pictures is so inspiring and soothing for me.
That middle stanza hit me hard. I’m still in my 20s, but I already feel like I’m “too old” for...

There’s a raw honesty in this—funny, reflective, and quietly aching. I especially love that last stanza. You’ve captured what it means to keep going, one foot in the past, one in the now.

Beautifully written — lyrical

Beautifully written — lyrical, heartfelt, and deeply nostalgic. The repetition of “before the troubles came” adds a haunting rhythm. You capture the shift from innocence to uncertainty with emotional clarity. It feels like memory wrapped in...

This felt super cozy and real. Loved the contrast between you and your brother—it added depth without over-explaining. The cat, coffee, and gentle spiral into thought gave it such a grounded rhythm. It’s reflective without being heavy, and that...

Loved this! Congratulations on getting Pick of the Day--well-deserved.
The banter feels real, and The Crinkler is both creepy‑cute and clever. The little bit of lore about stolen sleep is a fun touch, and the ending’s mellow “just roll...

So sad, so true. I enjoyed your play on words here as well, and the images were so immersive! It really helped draw me in to this very real issue, to recognize not only your stand on it but the beauty in what was lost to plastic and the like. I'm...

Luigi, you're a master of rhythm. I really enjoyed this, there are so many truths here. Our world has taken a crazy turn, with so many changes and adjustments we need to make now to bring back a more ideal status quo. You give me hope just...

What a concise retelling. I agree with others: passionate, sad, inspiring. You've so expertly woven the tale, capturing relevant details and emotions. You did them justice here. The emotions came, for me, in waves. Like colours, such a beautiful...

Love this. The images at the start; the feeling. The specifics of the second half. And the promise of the last four lines tie it all up. Beautifully written. Those cherries are well deserved.
