"Spirt of Sleepy Hollow on All Hallows Eve" (a short tale) Part 1

“The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" (The tale of the Headless Horseman) is a ghost story set in Upstate New York in the town of Sleepy Hollow. It was written in 1820 by Washington Irving who lived there. The story has been depicted in plays, movies and even in Disney’s memorable cartoon form. I had visited this area when I was in New York and during Halloween the town does do justice to its legend...this sparked a story for me and what follows is a short story spun from that visit...I hope you enjoy it.

The pride of seeing your child find their talent, wherever it is found, is transforming. I had a similar experience with my younger son; I have a piano but no time to play and decades passed since my days of lessons and time enjoying it. The...

Peacocks are beautiful and those tails when they preen are rainbows on a bird. Birds are amazing and I loved reading your poem.

Bravo for that strong, uplifting last verse. I applauded the sentiment. Take charge of your voice, express yourself and do not give a care for those who wish to silence you.

Every writer must find their voice, their truth and it...

You paint a vivid picture of tradition, beauty and tranquility in a world far from here. In your verses, I see landscaped gardens and calm waters beneath tiny foot bridges, cherry blossoms pink in the sunlight and the porcelain face of a Geisha,...

Beautiful and lyrical is your ode to a butterfly and its beautiful dance through life. It is sad to think their life span is so short, but in that short time they do create many smiles. Well deserved POD.

A poem to hearld a spring day

A poem to hearld a spring day's awakening; all the parts fluid, building on the moments and creating a picture in words, as beautiful as a monet painting. I particularly loved your descriptive images in this passage: "and first grafitti...

Your sentiments in this poem

Posted on Sat, 22 Apr 2023

Your sentiments in this poem reflect, for me, the immortal words of John Lennon:

"Imagine all the people sharing all the world- You may say I'm a dreamer but I'm not the only one - I hope someday you'll join us and the world will live...

You truly need to publish

Posted on Sun, 23 Apr 2023

You truly need to publish these screwball comedy vignettes. You have the dialogue and scene set down pat; all you need to do is slap it between two book covers.

Eating bugs for beer what a concept, rather disgusting but it made for a very...
