Written so realistically. So sad, because so easily can grip and grow. I remember my father talking me through a 'prayer ritual' I'd got into, and showing the two extremes neither of which were true prayer. So, I can see how this could happen....

I'm not sure whether there is smoke associated with oil production, though I suppose some when used as a fuel. What I remember more is the smoke when the wells were set alight deliberately in the Kuwait war, and I think by Isis more recently....
