Hi Turlough,
I bet after all that rain in Ireland, you couldn't have been that pleased to return home to even more rain and then floods to top it off. It seems the weather's been very punishing for so many near you. Makes me feel so lucky...
You've captured my childhood with this poem Rhiannon. so many memories of icy cold days and mum scraping the ice off the inside of the window. Also having to go to the outside toilet first thing in the morning...brrr! Makes me shiver just...
That's it! the Bunch Of Grapes! Such happy evenings spent in there. What a crazy evening that must have been surrounded by so many nuns. That's such sad news about the pub now closed and unloved, seems to me that our memories are all we have left...
what a memory of your Nan Grace. I only recall the old hand driven mangle my mum used. Poor mum mangled her finger once and it was never the same once fixed, but appeared twested just around the nail area.
Your poem hits home in so many ways Jane. The world definetly wasn't as complicated as it is now. Back when I was young things didn't keep changing so fast, we had time to adjust and get used to a slower way of life...well for me it was anyway....
nothing compares to a walk in the countryside, and at this time of year it's nice because although the sun is bright it's not too hot. The views sound wonderful from your vantage point, overlooking the village and hills....

Ooh! Now you have me wondering Penny. Who is this somone who has entered the Halloween crumble into the Harvest Festival? I've really enjoyed reading.
By the way: will Gloria and Roger be having a witches wedding, where they bind their...

What a performance from Aefelthrith, she was very lucky. I think Dolly's in her element watching Aefelthrith suffer.
I don't know where anyone would be without Gwladys, she seems to hold the fort for everyone, I hope she can cope with all...

That's such a shame how you felt when going to see Swan Lake. I've never sat up that high before, always managed to get a seat downstairs.
We used to drink in a side street pub, I think the street name is Denmark Street, but I don't...
