The last line is no surprise.

The last line is no surprise. Alfred has limited patience. Onwards to a new job, I imagine..

"Thunder explodes
Across the Thracian Plain
An afternoon’s incarceration, rain..."
An atmospheric, brooding, evocative poem. I could visualise the imagery as the poem unfolded. A really nice blend of narrative and description...

I agree with Di - staggered that you keep two stories going at the same time and manage to keep the quality so high. "A whiff of an awful smell..." at the end there in a tale full of intrigue and magic. Keep going, Penny :)

"I mainly associate classical piano music with old age, passivity, nostalgia, insomnia and peppermint chocolate." Great line :)

"..a gangly-leggèd harvestman,

I hope not! Aren't they huge things? Deftly done and a lot of drama packed into that vignette, Rhiannon. Enjoyed. Paul

I can picture Sylvestor Stallone, head-band an' all. Your fig tree sounds like a real warrior. All nicely done, of course :)

Liquid mud in abundance at the moment with all the rain.
Adroitly done, Rhiannon. I splashed and slithered my way through your poem which put a smile on my face....

Another beautiful diary entry if a little sad. And a lovely pic. Paul :)

"Oh if only I could throw in the towel,
Life could be so much easier again,
but then where would I get the money..."
A lamentation of many. I hope Alfred keeps moving around history and writing up his stories. Things...
