Brilliant and bizarre. What's especially clever I think is that no matter how surreal it gets you never lose your empathy with the humanity of the characters. Well, they're more human because of it actually. Maybe that's an obvious thing to say,...
Yes, this is great. Books are insulation and love the other things you have woven in: conversations as prayers for example, and the equality of a library. Lovely. :)

I know. I feel like I have missed so many opportunities with this little spat of illness. All I have successfully done is languish on a sofa, but I have at least done that well. Next time, I'm definitely opting for night nurse and gin.
