Great story for the I P Jane. I love Blodwyn's poem, it evoked folklore and timely care the skilled gardener puts forward to growing a submission in a competition.
Your recollections took me right back to the 50s & 60s and feeling privileged to have been a child then, I think we had the benefit of so much freedom in every respect, and found joy in the simple things.
Oooh! Archibald gets so confused and poor Josiah is so tolerant, I can feel his frustration building, but luckily Josiah manages to control his feelings.
I'll bet Archibald's already rushing back to that cupboard to relay what he's...
