Yes they were good times (mostly) in Las Palmas. Not the prettiest city but a great place all the same (cockroaches and all). the island of Grand Canaria is very interesting, However, after the move to Lanzarote and visiting some of the other...

They are magnificent birds and they provide a real service for all animals on Earth including us. We revile them for seaching out and eating dead and rotting flesh, but forget the amount of diseases they prevent by cleaning discarded carcasses....

I always have to smile when I see our resident magpies belittling the neighbour's mog.

Clever the way you have paralled our lives with that of cicadas, luckily we don't have to spend 17 years underground like some of them do, but as you say, in a way we do bury ourselves in our lives and work for years and sometimes things happen...
