Taking the dog early this morning I heard bird song. The first time I noticed the embryonic dawn chorus of these little hearts staking their claims for the breeding season.

There are plenty of leaves here this year

in Belgium many council authorities have decided not to clear the leaves from green spaces like before. They say it's better for the environment to let the leaves rot down over winter to provide food for the spring growth.
