Mono Log

First of all, let's call it prosetry. Well, I've been playing with this one for well over 10 years. My normal mode of working is give the keyboard a bash and then dash. Those I do fiddle with, I rarely improve. However, I've had a go with this... Regarding the quoted/allusory material, I would say that this is the upper (or do I mean lower??) limit of acceptable, but what do I know. If anyone's worried, I'll take it down.

Another Year

More odes from the crypt... It's about... 6 lines too long - or short, I don't know. Image is from pxhere.com

Mirrors for Princes

(Brunellus and) The Mirror of Fools is a satire written by Nigel de Longchamps sometime around the turn of the 12th Century. What is this about? Hold it up to the mirror... it won't help. More old stuff. Image is PD

The Rag Doll's Clothes (I Am Not Invisible)

Photograph is from wiki commons - unfortunately - taken in 2006, I wonder where this woman is now? Is she even alive? A large proportion of the UK's homeless are ex-military personnel. Licence cc-by-sa-2.0.

Son of My Father

What's this one about? Fathers and sons, old age, what awaits us all... and loads of other things, you decide. Image in PD, source Look and Learn.com, Odysseus and the sirens.

Most likely.

I think my imaginary Bert's attitude is acceptable. A black armband and do what you would normally do. Maybe turn on the TV for the actual funeral, if you're not emptying bins, or "a dinner lady or a steelworker".  (Look that up, see why it's...

I do love this one. Lots to admire here.

"His face is the waves of shipwreck

slants and slashes,"

is absolutely terrific.

Well done.

I have changed the font size,

I hope you don't mind. It really was very small and I'd hate for peope to have missed out on your excellent poem because they couldn't read it.

Congratulations This is our Poem of the Week August 19th 2022

Posted on Sun, 14 Aug 2022

This is our poem of the week. Well done.

Do you think you could adjust the font and make it bigger, as it's a little sore on the eyes at this size?

When my wife

was undergoing her treatment for a different kind of cancer, the chemo gave her what amounted to IBS. We had just returned to the UK from 15 years abroad in Spain. Throughout 2018 and some of 2019 we had many a panicked and fruitless search for a...
