I like this for the way it shows that domestic violence is no respecter of class or money, and that violence distorts human relationships.  Claire may be staying in the marriage for reasons other than love,and no-one would blame her for getting...

Really liked the effect of the rhythm and rhyme.  They express the desperate way so many turn to all sorts of notions to give structure to the world.  The last stanza captures the calm of those who have found their own answers.
