I wanted to write something about the poisonous blue of Thatcherism. But went off completely somewhere else and consoled myself that she didn't own the colour.

I guess things don't change

I guess things don't change (including that this is still a really good read) and that they haven't since time began. I guess the battle is not to give in to that, hard as it is, and that's a shared task. This really is a fantastic poem.
I lliked this, giving legionnaires a new battleground. It's sad but I don't find it depressing. And I like the poppy, despite our mixed perception of it.
Beautifully led from beginning to end - from darkness to bright as the sun. Loads of thought provoking descriptions. This one stood out for me - life's gripping secret, choice.
I clicked on this because I knew it would be a good one from you - and it is - and then found it was Elland which is where a long ago ancestor of mine was born, long before buses. He obviously walked to Rochdale instead. So many good observations...
Beautiful. I've seen those swooping over Bristol in the past. And it does always feel like something you want to share. This reminded me a bit of the lovely moment in Wind in the Willows where they see Pan.

Beautifully small and accurate. I loved the 'round and through and round and through' which seemed to add silence and timelessness to it.
