Danella is welcomed by the General, but conversation soon turns to the serious issues between their nations. Ravelleon reveals his attitudes and prejudices, and the Priestess queries the conquerors' treatment of the captive Pirionite soldiers.

Conquering General Ravelleon visits the dormitory and requests Danella's company to dine at his rooms. She must refrain from other 'work' during the day, and looks forward to this chance to get to know this General more closely.

A sense of normality returns to the Priestesses after the excesses and dangers of conquest. They are now able to influence and educate the conquerors in the ways of the Goddess. The exploitation and competitive values of the conquerors remain incomprehensible but fascinating to Danella. This is section 2 of this part.
