Cherry

part 4

But Mary had no room for words. Her fear was big as a mountain. Tears spilled and a huge sob, like a tidal wave came up from her chest. The seagull...
Cherry

part 3 (redrafted)

Cherry

Mary couldn't help laughing too, the first proper laugh since that Tuesday after school when she had not been allowed to go with Mum, then everyone...
Cherry

part 1

She hunched down into the car seat so her coat went up on each side like shields. It didn't stop him from kicking her, but he couldn't see she was...

Reality is a trap. In this garden no sun warms. Underground, worms squirm in a rootless world as tongues before words. But then, there, at the back,...

I LOVE this poem,Jenny. How

Posted on Thu, 02 Sep 2021

"She smiles (thinly) spins

Posted on Sun, 29 Aug 2021

How you have broken up

Posted on Fri, 27 Aug 2021

How you have broken up sentences makes words seem frightening, like falling through ice and the bits are all sharp, where once skated effortlessly. Even the rhythm jars in your poem, adds to the fear. I am so sorry about your father, it is aweful...

I love the long, flowing

Posted on Wed, 25 Aug 2021

I love the long, flowing sounds of " canal’s slow-undulating" and "miniature, muscular" which contrast brilliantly with "hot-clay banks"

and "Golden eyed, barred mouth, striated scaled," the list uncoils like a snake's shape in water, and...

Posted on Wed, 25 Aug 2021

they are so BEAUTIFUL! I had never heard of them, those COLOURS! It seems specisist to me, that it might be a sin to kill one kind of bird but fine to eat another, however there must be something so wrong with a person to want to destroy such...
