18 Just Use the Thing

This the last, for a while anyway. I've got to do some tidying up of Mr Martinez before I publish it on 1st August. In the meantime, see if you can guess what happens to our hero in this story, let me know, because your guess is as good as mine. Image created at canva.com

17 What Would Interest Big Brother in Merthyr Tydfil?

Well, what? I ask you. I've reached 10,000 words on this. That milestone usually means I'll get a book out of a project. However, it also means I probably won't post the other 40 to 50,000 on here. I might do an excerpt or two between now and whenever I do finish it. Keep an eye out for it on the 'Zon, sometime after Mr Martinez appears. In the first para you mix up your tenses. The night wind "blows" but the moon "hung".

Later you have

"At 10:46pm on Friday 3rd December, a random incident occur outside The Beachcomber pub."

Did you start this as all...

Marvellous stuff.

You have Long Cheney Jr vice Lon Chaney Jr in the paragraph beginning "A goaty, hairy chap..."

Do tell me to bog off if it's deliberate.

Enjoyed the Stones reference.

Well done.

Well done, multum in parvo indeed. As Insert pointed out, jacket pockets as advent calendar is some conceit. Marvellous.

Please, would all members share on whatever Social Media they use?

Erm... I am probably being dim, but since прия́телка in Russian is a slightly more formal 'Gal Pal', is your lovely partner appearing pseudonymously?

NO! Don't...

Speaking of US/UK

continuity. although Dulux is a US brand of paint too, did they ever use the Old English Sheepdog as part of their branding? The Dulux Dog was used in campaigns in AUS and NZ, but I don't think it was in the States.

Fine,

chewily satisfying, language. Like the best renderings of the macabre, it is very matter of fact.

You have a typo improbably vice improbable in second stanza line 9.

Good poem.

Chemo is awful,

Posted on Mon, 23 Oct 2023

but it's better than the alternative. That said, anyone who is faced with a second or third round of chemotherapy in the event of a recurrence of disease, is entitled to opt for whatever is the best for them. My wife's aunt couldn't face her...
