This was one Imaginative, spooky story Jess. I can just imagine Clara's horror at her mother's strange attitude towards the garden and its unseasonale weather...certainly gave me the shivers.
You know I based that part of the story on the Bristol City Centre, near the Llandoger Trow pub and The Hole In The Wall, two pubs I used to drink in a lot during the 1970s. I know The Llandoger was frequented by Black Beard the Pirate. I can...
It breaks my heart when I hear of situations like this. That poor mother must be so scared, and the girl terrified of the future. So sorry for them both. I hope they will both be reunited soon and the mother doesn't have another stroke.
Your memory brought back my own. We were living in a condemned cottage that was to be pulled down in about 62 or 63, but my dad managed to get a better paid job, with enough money for a morgage, otherwise we'd have been moved in to a flat too....
An astute poem, that's very relevant at the moment, if we don't want a water shortage this summer. Perhaps we should all do a rain dance in our gardens.
You brought back my own recollections with your recalling the hall. We did country dancing too, though I hated P. E. as we called it back in the 1960s, and could never climb the ropes. I do remember assembly and Mr Jones our music teacher playing...
I thought this was such a tragic state of affairs in a frightening, despairing life. I was once on the streets just for one night back in the 1980s, it was the coldest, longest night I've ever experienced, because It's hard to know who to trust...
Being in my early 70s now, I can relate to this poem, although a female, I was certainly a wild child and a big drinker through my 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s. But now I no longer touch the lager, beer or wine and don't miss it.

Hi Jess,
a developing chain of haunting events that lead to strange happenings.
This is my kind of story and the ending was brilliant.
Congrats on the well deserved gold cherries.
Jenny.
