The Great Game . Kabul 1839 and 1979.

This is a trues story, the facts have only been altered to protect my memory. And from my brief sojourn in Afghanistan I came away with both a love of the country and its people, and a deep seated belief that it would be folly for any other nation to become involved with its affairs.

The Novice

This was the first poem that came to me, twenty seven years ago, while I was living in a Benedictine community. It is partly autobiographical (Romeo was an actual rooster), though set in a much earlier time - before Henry VIII did his worst.

Thanks gletherby. I found it an easy read, but I was waiting for the twist, (being of a mordant temperament), but it never came, it was describing what a care home should be, rather than what some of us have experineced.

The Allowing is the key

A deep poem, that requires several readings. And for me the key is in the title - to allow the letting go; a bit like relaxing ones self, not always easy to do. Dougie

Superlative nature poem

I enjoy reading this and receive something new each time: I especially liked the last line. With some trepidition may I also query the second line, where you use 'an' instead od 'and'; I wasn't sure if this was deliberate ot a typo?
