An enthuiastic look at how death and the after life can be. I thought Janey's action was typical of human fear, without having time to really think about the consequence of her actions.
What goes around, comes around and it's good to see vinyl records back. I was a great fan of John Peel and this story got me thinking of his late night radio show.
This was a time of such terror for wives, with husbands having the upper hand in every aspect of marriage, even down to beating a wife for some petty everyday thing. It seemed husband had all the rights with none of the backlash for his own...

You capture the ghost of John perfectly and just how I imagine those moments after death and before going to the light and resting in peace to be.
The ending totally grabbed me, like the others I can't wait to read what happens next....

I had no idea that George Elliot was a pen name for Mary Ann Evans, in fact I thought the writer was a male...this always surprises me.
I'm sure I've read Middlemarch back in the 1970s, but for the life of me cannot recall what it's about...
