Oh yes, me too. I love the unexpected use of flowers. I particularly like, 'She had a lilac core' and the final 2 lines, because the admiration comes across in a completely unsentimental way. Steadfast.

I'm enjoying this more and more as I'm getting to know the characters and the conflicts between them. The setting is original. I'm looking forward to what is going to happen next.

You just need a sentence I think between '...in the same swamp' and 'You're not going to find....' to break up that big chunk of dialogue.
