I guess your son's operation

Posted on Wed, 02 Dec 2015

I guess your son's operation was a crescendo of all the stress you had gone through, to get him to this point, but also dreading it, having to let him go, trust the doctors. And then when you were so vulnerable, why was his father there?
I...

I guess meeting other Mums

Posted on Mon, 30 Nov 2015

I guess meeting other Mums who had even more to worry about in their sons' health must have been a comfort, even though you were dealing with all this without a partner. The poor lady whose child had no nose! How many operations he must have gone...

I really hope you do not

Posted on Fri, 27 Nov 2015

I really hope you do not still feel bad about having to lie! You had no choice!!! Even if you were willing to sacrifice the only roof you had, you could not have done that to your baby? Suppose the man had hurt you, what would have happened to...

So much has changed, hasn't

Posted on Wed, 25 Nov 2015

So much has changed, hasn't it? I am not sure it would be possible now, to find a new GP so quickly. And Ebay has replaced jumblesales, even charity shops are not so good as I remember. I guess not so many people slaughter their supper these days...

That must have been so cruelly hard, having been surrounded by your new friends and everything sorted, then all alone in this frightening place, but wonderful that their kindness even reached in there with a 'new' mattress and sheets. That chair...

Have realised, this is a story about women, isn't it? The land lady, Granny, the ladies who got beaten up and went back to those who hurt them, and You, the others who got out out and made better lives for yourselves and your children, who didn't...

Posted on Wed, 18 Nov 2015

You do a great job instilling a sense of fear and disgust at this new accomodation! I am kind of surprised that no one checked up that you had a safe place to go, it doesn't seem responsible at all, to let you and your baby fall through the...

I love how you describe the others in the refuge - even though you must all have been struggling, so much support! It is lovely to read of the kindness, perhaps Granny's nastiness even made you all closer, a threat you could overcome and looking...

Posted on Sat, 14 Nov 2015

That must have been such joy, to hold your baby again, getting him back, since it had been the two of you against the world. But to be told you had to let him go back to the situation you had rescued him from, and then be told you had to leave...

Posted on Thu, 12 Nov 2015

To think, if it hadn't been for that piece you posted this week, would never have read any of this! I feel as Bee says, to have thought of you always as so sensitive, a born poet through and through, it makes your bravery and resilience the more...
