Anticipation

When Christmas approaches
what do children anticipate?
The arrival of Santa Claus
hoping that he won't be late.

It is now November 30th;
twenty-five days may be enough
for an old man to deliver on time
the presents, but it could be tough.

What if the weather is inclement
and the terrain becomes rough?
It will be a herculean task
to transport all the heavy stuff.

It is well known that in Lapland
there is an abundance of snow
which for the struggling reindeers
is the reason for being so slow.

Santa Claus, though, anticipates
that the trip won't end in disaster;
a strong tailwind will prevail
to make his sledges fly faster.
