"Christmas with a Child's View" (....Santa Claus, Pere Noel, Father Christmas, Sinterklaas, Saint Nicholas, Kris Kringle....)

Evergreen boughs and red ribbon bows
Sparkling tinsel and lights strung in rows
Await the arrival of a jolly old elf
Who does not ever, sit on a shelf
Delighted children make their lists
Checking it twice for something they've missed
Skateboards, gaming systems,
new coats or mittens
Some even wishing for puppies and kittens
Nothing too small and nothing too big
Everything possible on that jolly elf’s rig
Then on the night of the 25th in December
When the fireplace logs have turned into ember
The winds blow cold and the midnight hour strikes
But nothing disturbs
the slumbering tykes
The jolly old elf glides through the night
With eight brawny reindeer,
oh what a sight!
And to each little house in each little town
Drops presents like homing pigeons
That never hit the ground
All wrapped with paper,
And tied with big bows
Tucked under trees with multi light glows
Shiny and glossy, packaged just right
To brighten the eyes
of a child
On this warm
Christmas night….

Hi Penny,
Hi Penny,
I have to say this is one of the best Christmas poems I've read since:
The night before Christmas when all round the house, nothing was stirrring not even a mouse.
Beautifully written with great rhythm and rhyme.
Also every childs dream.
Hope you have a good Christmas and a healthy happy New Year.
Jenny.

I do remember confounding my
I do remember confounding my parents by an honest demand as to why, if he could bring anything I wanted I couldn't ask for a (I think it was ) horse. I doubt I really wanted a horse, or would have known what to do with it, but it was an honest puzzlement at the time. I don't know how they aswered, but probably my mother encouraged me to be more realisitc and not greedy! Rhiannon
