I don't think I'd enjoy visiting ancient buildings, espcially highly decorative, but can appreciate the work that has gone into them. I tend ot prefer ruins and open countryside!, but buildings give a guide to the history of the people. Nations (...

That's a perceptive comment, and I guess it is why I love being drawn to notice these things that still are there to be seen, as you say honed down to the basic shape of the branches, tree trunks etc, and as the plant covering is less and weak,...
