Pentecost Sunday, Invitation proclaimed

Ten days after He’d ascended
back to heaven, His followers waited
for He’d promised He would send them
Holy Spirit to empower them
so that they to every nation
could tell of this great salvation.

As they were together gathered,
suddenly a rushing sound heard
like a might wind, and flame-like
tongues touched – Spirit-filled, they spoke
in many languages – a picture
of their mission in the future.

So they went and spread abroad,
talking of the Saviour, Lord,
and new branches soon arose
of the church in all of those
places where the news was heard –
life-transforming, healing Word.
