It is, or should be, a truth universally acknowledged that a world run by David Attenborough and Mary Beard would be a sane and civilised place and a much better bet than we have at the moment
I looked at Hamish. Who had replaced the dodgy businessman, the charming, self-serving rogue I had known since childhood, with this stern creature who delivered lectures to the powerful?

A very good read. It reminded me of standing watching the runners come in at the end of the London marathon a few years ago, waiting for my daughter to finish. (She did!) It is indeed really uplifting to hear the crowd cheering for everyone. And...
As every, you perfectly weave landscape and past together, and bring both alive. Like Penny, I thought your last line was brilliant. Congratulations on the very well-deserved golden cherries.
I wonder if a mediocre moon is also a dressing-gown moon? It gets up and thinks, no, not tonight, really can't be bothered, I'm just going to sit in my dressing-gown and eat my own crackers. Let them say what they like.
It must be hard for a politician, having to halve your vocabulary so you only use 'acceptable' words for what is going on. Having to tread on eggshells in case an inappropriate word can lose you the party whip or the business that war is good for...

As insert says, well done on giving the workshops...
I really enjoyed reading this. There's that wistfulness as we think about people who once shared so much of our lives - and maybe wonder if they think about us? - and then the warmth of the friendship that has lasted years. The shorthand...

Delightful. Beautifully drawn characters, great atmosphere, wit and a dose of cataclysmic despair. Thoroughly enjoyed this.
