I can relate to this poem, used to love live music loud and proud, but just not able to cope with speakers turned up to their highest decibels, and the large crowds anymore, they leave my head spinning and body shaking with anxiety.
It's hard to imagine being under the thumb, and not a chance of sharing your own personal feelings for fear you'd offend your husband, life certainly wasn't easy for women back then.
People certainly did a lot of traveling in those days,...
I listened to you reading this poem and thought how accomplished you were at talking. You should be a narrator for some nature programme, I think you'd excel, because you have just the right tone.
What a fantastic episode

Great poem Ed, all these tiny eco-friendly systems supporters working hard are so undervalued, now you've highlighted their achievements.

Hi Rhiannon,
how interesting to read about Spinning Caddis flies I've never heard of.
A great poem because you've managed to create a whole other world in this poem, that I had no idea about.
Jenny.

That last part had me picturing the vivid, terror of a devil like character coming at them. Very much a horror scene, but exciting too.
Still enjoying.
