Some great descriptions here Richard, you could be describing the two crows that come to feed in our garden every morning, especially in the last stanza.
Being able to translate into poetry what you are seeing, is such a gift. You have that talent in bucket loads in this poem. I was with you all the way and very much enjoyed reading.
I could relate to your writing, needing to leave home as soon as possible and moving away. Those early years I like you thought the only way to experience life was to get out there and take on the challenges that came my way. ...
