After reading this, I have so much admiration for this man and commend him for proving those teachers wrong. It's so not right for anyone to knock the spirit out of a person.

I've also been to Blackgang Chine which is a wonderful place for the young at heart, but that was back in the 1980s, it's probably changed a lot since I was there.

Your writing was so moving Elsie. I haven't been to London since the late 1980s, so have no idea what it's like now.
