memories come out of hiding when we look for them, but often they are never what they seem, just a fading glimpse of what we want them to be.

Those feelings of emotional torcher, that menacing danger. One day you would grow up to be a man, a mouse no more, but still suffering the scars of those memories.

I love the idea of the story coming from the road itself. I think if old roads could speak, what a story they'd have to tell, of the history behind how it started out and what it then became is like an autobiography, which you described so well...
