You capture the awesomeness of beauty and change and danger in great rivers, as in the ocean waves and even in fire – useful, but treat with caution and care. The roar of waterfalls, the tumble of swollen streams, the burbling of shallower stoney...
It's lovely that the dying has beauty created in it too.

I have been amazed at some of the river clean-ups that have happened over the last 50 years or so, eg with the demise of industrial pollution. I know of the vast change in the River Taff, since the mining ended, but also I think much other work...

I usually have to come back to your writing and check what others have said, too, as, like Di, I'm usually unsure of where it is going part of the way, though usually rereading clarifies more.
It's a hard step to return, isn't it? Go on praying. And the Lord knows all that he is thinking at the present time, and all his confusion. When my youngest was young he had Asperghers, and we often both got exasperated and frustrated. Nowadays...
So sorry for your sad memories, Jenny. I'm sure your mother would have been devastated in her sadness if she'd been able to realise the long-term anguish it would cause you. But I think you have many happy memories of her before that overtook her...
